November 2022 – where we are at now

We accepted a referral of a family from the Home Office in early June and then have had to wait for a house to become available. We now have an offer from a housing association and are waiting for necessary repairs to be completed. We will then start to decorate and furnish the house. We will need to carpet throughout. If you can help in any way, do let us know. 

The Home Office will then make arrangements for the family to travel here. This is a really exciting time, we are nearly there!

Summer 2022 – where we are now

We accepted a referral of a family from the Home Office in early June. We are now waiting for a house to become available. When that happens, we will firm up our plans (making a 2nd stage application to the Home Office) and the Home Office then make arrangements for the family to travel here. We will also then start actively looking for furniture etc

We have set up 5 sub groups – Family Support, Property Preparation, Digital, ESOL and English conversation, and Aspiration Volunteering and Employment.

Meet with us Saturday 4th June

We have now had a referral of a family from the Home Office – we have accepted the referral and want to talk to all our supporters about how we plan for the next phase. 

The family won’t arrive for around a couple of months but there will be plenty of work for people to do before then.  

Come and meet us on Saturday 4th June at 10.00am in the Unitarian Chapel Schoolhouse on Branthwaite Brow Kendal LA9 4TN – we expect to finish before 12.00pm.

Coffee Morning Success

Our coffee morning at the Unitarian Chapel Schoolhouse on 5th March was a great success. We made the amazing sum of £678.65.

Thanks so much to all the helpers and to all the people of Kendal who came and spent so generously.

Kendal Open Door coffee morning – 5th March

We have now fixed a date of Saturday 5th March 2022 for the coffee morning which will run from 9.30 – 12.00 at the Unitarian Chapel Schoolroom on Branthwaite Brow in Kendal. Please come along and spread the word to all your friends. It will be great to put faces to names as not all supporters of this project know each other. 

We will be running a tombola – does anyone have unwanted presents that you got for Christmas and that you could donate as prizes?  Just let us know. Contact liz@kendalopendoor.org or sheelagh@kendalopendoor.org
